America (The Book)

I had read this book a number of years ago and was just recently perusing through my bookshelf and came across it again. If you're a fan of The Daily Show or Jon Stewart, this book is a must read. It is a cleverly written satirical take on the standard American history text book. The book really does read very similar to the text books we had to read throughout grammar school and highlights some of the political faux pas of the past century. The best part is that it has some legitimate explanatory skills in regards to our nation's government. It outlines the branches of government and the concepts of lobbying, election endorsements and the role of the media. It's a very quick read and is easily picked up and flipped to any page for some great material and unexpected learning. Check it out, just be careful of page 99.

  1. Seeing this made me think of something I watched last night. If you have ondemand from comcast and have HBO, you should really watch Will Farrels "You're Welcome America". He does an entire broadway skit of him being George Bush and it is the greatest thing I have ever heard. He pokes fun of him, talks about true facts, all while "Being" him. I'm a huge fan of Jon Stewart and a lot of his comments and opinions I agree with, even if they are sometimes crude and sarcastic. Both Stewart and Farrel are hilarious comedians and actors and they break down everything that is happening into comedy. I love it!
